Bartiromo was a production assistant for CNN’s business news operation, working for Lou Dobbs.
“He was fantastic,” said Bartiromo. “He was dedicated to excellence.” After five years, Dobbs wanted to redo the whole assignment desk, which would have put Bartiromo back on the overnight desk, so Bartiromo put a tape together and sent it to CNBC.
It was at CNBC where Bartiromo started receiving emails from Joey Ramone of the rock group The Ramones, asking questions about stocks. Ramone later wrote a song about Bartiromo.
“I learned from family the value of hard work,” said Bartiromo.
