Barron’s Group is creating an investigative reporting unit

Barron’s Group is launching a new investigative reporting team, focused on high-impact stories in finance, business and policy around the world.

The team will be spearheaded by Duncan Mavin, who is appointed managing mditor, Barron’s In-depth News.

Mavin has been managing editor for news operations and standards. Mavin was previously head of editorial products for Dow Jones Media. He has been a columnist for Bloomberg News. Prior to that, he worked for The Wall Street Journal as its Money & Investing Editor for Europe. He also was editor for Heard on the Street in Asia and life & style editor for The Wall Street Journal in Asia.

Mavin will be building the team, and slots are just being opened.

Reporters throughout Barron’s Group, as well as select outside contributors, will be able to partner with the team to produce distinguished journalism that will run on all platforms, which include MarketWatch, Barron’s, Financial News and Mansion Global.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
