We are excited to formally introduce Barron’s to the new innovative story formats team: Anita Hamilton, Nick Hallam, and Malak Saleh. The team, led by Anita, will be focused on expanding the ways Barron’s tells stories online.
These journalists already have been working on a new story format, referred to as Google Web Stories, that is designed to educate and inform people in a visually rich, easy-to-digest way. And there will be more innovations as we expand what we do on social media platforms.
Here are some recent examples of the work, which have already attracted a significant number of readers.

And a bit about the team:
Anita Hamilton, assistant managing editor, was previously editor in chief of Vice’s personal finance channel. She has also served as money editor at Mic, news & partnerships editor at Money, and breaking news editor at TIME.com. She began her New York City journalism career as a staff writer at Time Magazine. A native Californian, Anita is also an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast.
After leaving civil engineering for a career in newspaper design, Nick Hallam, visuals editor, worked at The Times and The Telegraph of London, winning numerous awards for ‘best designed broadsheet’. Upon emigrating to the U.S. in 2005, he spent a short time at The National Enquirer where he was regularly asked by their sister publication’s photoshop department to be the base model for batboy (or some such). After escaping to The New York Daily News, he joined The Wall Street Journal as art director and eventually became the deputy chief art director. He joined Barron’s in 2020.
Malak Saleh, digital producer, previously worked as a breaking news editor at Bloomberg, covering U.S. and MENA markets. Malak is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Jordan, speaks Arabic fluently, is currently learning Turkish, and loves to rock climb in her spare time.
