Barron’s Advisor hires Stone as associate editor

Barron’s Advisor has hired Amey Stone as an associate editor.

She has been a writer for Morgan Stanley’s wealth management global investment operations since 2017.

Before that, she was at Barron’s from 2015 to 2017 writing the “Current Yield” column and the “Income Investing” blog on Barrons.com.

Stone had joined MoneyWatch in October 2013. She previously was managing editor of MSN Money. Stone joined MSN Money in 2010, after being managing editor of DailyFinance.com, a business site launched in 2009 by AOL.

Stone was also an assistant managing editor at AOL Money & Finance, where she oversaw business news and investing coverage. She had been with AOL since 2005 and is the founding editor of BloggingStocks, WalletPop and, most recently, DailyFinance.

Prior to joining AOL, Stone spent eight years as a senior writer at BusinessWeek Online covering finance, investing and the economy. She has also worked as a financial writer at BusinessWeek magazine, SmartMoney.com, and Financial Planning.

She is the author of “King of Capital,” a biography of Sandy Weill, and a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
