Bank to sponsor Talking Points column in Boston Globe biz section

Massachusetts-based bank Rockland Trust Co. has struck a deal with the Boston Globe where it is publishing sponsored content in the newspaper and also sponsoring a column in the business section.

Rockland Trust-sponsored content will include information on how to successfully run and grow businesses, and how to overcome the challenges that arise as they expand.

The program also includes Rockland Trust’s sponsorship of the popular “Talking Points” column in the Globe’s business section.

The written sponsored content will be authored by Boston Globe Media’s new content services business unit, not its business news desk staff.

The sponsorship deal is similar to one that Citizens Bank had with the Philadelphia Inquirer beginning in 2007. With that sponsorship deal, the front page of the Inquirer’s business section included the bank’s logo on the section’s masthead and above the Philly Inc. column.

As part of the program, Rockland Trust and The Boston Globe will host The Boston Globe’s Talking Points Event Series presented by Rockland Trust beginning in January 2016. The business networking event series will feature local experts, innovators, and thought leaders who will address the challenges and opportunities that businesses face.
