The Augusta Chronicle has acquired Buzz on Biz, a business news publication in the area.
Chronicle business editor Damon Cline writes, “Morris Publishing Group (Chronicle Media’s parent organization) on Monday will purchase Buzz on Biz LLC’s print, digital and broadcast offerings, capping off months of talks with the boutique business-content publisher’s ubiquitous owner, Neil Gordon.
“To say I’m delighted is an understatement. Bringing Neil & Co. on board is an extremely smart move. Not only has the broadcaster-turned-entrepreneur worked hard to create a unique metro Augusta brand with a dedicated following of readers and viewers, his growing list of advertisers doesn’t overlap much with Chronicle Media’s holdings.
“Selfishly speaking, the bonus to me is that I won’t have to recreate his wheel. Whew!
“Fans of the sponsored-content franchise shouldn’t fret about the deal harshing their buzz – the transition should be seamless for its audience and advertisers and ‘business as usual’ at the eight-year-old operation. Same goes for the Chronicle, a 230-year-old ‘brand’ built on credible reporting and compelling information.
“What you will see from the deal is Chronicle Media exploring new content opportunities in print, digital and broadcast mediums, as well as special-event promotion.”
