Atlanta Biz Chronicle promotes Sams to senior editor for news

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has promoted commercial real estate Doug Sams to senior editor of news.

Sams, who has been at the paper since 2006, will continue to cover real estate until a replacement has been found on that beat.

He covered health care from 2006 to 2008 and then covered real estate.

Before the Chronicle, Sams worked at the Gwinnett Daily Post in suburban Atlanta for four years.

He is a University of Georgia graduate.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
