Scott Ard has been hired as the new editor of the Silicon Valley Business Journal, an American City Business Journals publication.
Nathan Donato-Weinstein of the paper writes, “Ard most recently served as a top editor at Yahoo. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at CNET, where he played a leading role in making the site a destination for technology coverage. During his tenure, CNET earned more than 100 awards, including a National Magazine Award.
“Ard also worked as a business editor and reporter for the Alameda Newspaper Group for 10 years, where he launched a weekly technology section, one of the first in the country by a major metro daily, and helped transition the paper to the Web.
“‘SVBJ specifically marries three passions that I have been fortunate to follow in my career: Local business journalism, technology and online publishing,’ he said. ‘There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of journalists who cover technology around the globe, but relatively few actually work in Silicon Valley. We will leverage that advantage, and the Business Journal’s 32-year history, to produce content that stands out from the crowd.'”
