An unbylined Atlanta Journal-Constiution story reports Friday that Apple’s stock fell after an erroneous report on a CNN site that CEO Steve Jobs had a heart attack.
The AJC story stated, “The iReport.com item said Jobs had suffered ‘a major heart attack’ and was rushed to a hospital. It cited an anonymous source.
“The report was ‘not true,’ Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told Bloomberg.
“The report was later removed from the iReport Web site.
“By early afternoon Apple shares were up nearly 4 percent.
“Atlanta-based CNN describes iReport.com as a place for ‘unedited, unfiltered, news’ and said it ‘makes no guarantee about the content or coverage’ on the site.
“CNN spokeswoman Carolyn Disbrow didn’t immediately return phone calls seeking comment, Bloomberg reported.
