An auto writer with passion

Dallas Morning News editor Bob Mong writes Sunday about the paper’s auto writer, Terry Box, and the passion he has for the job.

Mong writes, “You are familiar with his popular Saturday column, Terry’s Garage, but you can’t keep him confined to the Automotive section. Terry has been all over the paper in recent weeks.“He reviewed the Mazdaspeed3 last Saturday, then turned around a riveting, well-written Page One story the next day about a local speed racer. On Tuesday, he caught up with mega-dealer Carl Sewell on the cover of the Business section. When Fritz Henderson exited as General Motors’ chief executive, Terry produced a smart analysis for Wednesday’s paper.

“That’s productivity!

“I first knew Terry as a competent assistant city editor. But I didn’t really know him until he snagged the auto job on our business news staff 16 years ago. He jumped at the opportunity.”
