American Banker editor in chief Rob Blackwell sent out the following announcement on Monday:

I’m excited to announce two hires that will be joining us next month.

Victoria Finkle will start Monday, Dec. 11, as the new BankThink editor, succeeding Joe Adler (who is now Washington Bureau Chief). I couldn’t be more excited to get Tori back. As many of you know, she worked for American Banker for several years, first as a consumer finance reporter and later covering Capitol Hill. Since then, she’s worked freelance for several different publications, including the New York Times, Quartz and Bloomberg BNA. She’s one of the most talented reporters I’ve worked with, and I’m thrilled she’s joining us as a senior editor at the paper, working at the D.C. office.

Hilary Burns, meanwhile, will start Dec. 1 as our new community bank reporter. Hilary worked for the Charlotte Business Journal for more than two years, where she covered banking. While there, she conducted frequent interviews with execs we know well, like BofA’s Brian Moynihan, in addition to writing and reporting on fintech and other financial issues. Prior to that, Hilary was a reporter for bizwomen.com. Hilary just moved to Boston and will be working for us from there. I’m excited to add her enthusiasm and experience to the community banking team.

As for the opening in Washington, we are actively working to fill that post quickly. More details to come soon.

I couldn’t be more proud of the work American Banker has been doing. This is the best team in financial journalism right now and these two hires will make it even better. Please join me in welcoming our new hires.

Best,

Rob
