Journalists who have covered African business or economics can enter their work for a contest sponsored by an international brewing company. The submission deadline is May 31.
Applicants can submit no more than five entries, published or broadcast from June 21, 2005, to May 31, 2006. Submissions must be in English or include an English translation. Web site entries should include the URL address and a description of how the site fits the award criteria. Organizers say the ideal entry is based on excellent research and insight, a clear and balanced presentation, objectivity, and journalistic flair.
The award’s sponsor, Diageo, is a British beverage conglomerate that brews popular brands such as Guinness and Baileys. Diageo Africa accounts for more than 20 percent of the company’s workforce.
