Ad Age has hired two business journalists for its Chicago bureau and named E.J. Schultz its bureau chief.
A story on its website states, “Mr. Schultz joined Ad Age five years ago and covers packaged food, beverage and sports marketing. During his time with Ad Age, he has been recognized with the Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award for best range of work by a single author, as well as a Best in Business award for a feature story from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Prior to joining Ad Age, E.J. worked for McClatchy newspapers, including the Fresno Bee where he covered business, state government and politics, and the Island Packet in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He has a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Xavier University.
“Joining Mr. Schultz in Chicago are Jessica Wohl, who will be covering food marketing, and George Slefo, who will be covering ad-tech and consumer electronics marketing.
“Ms. Wohl joins Ad Age from the Chicago Tribune, where she has been covering restaurant and food marketing, most notably the ins and outs of McDonald’s rebranding efforts. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at Reuters in a variety of roles. While at Reuters, she covered the world’s largest retail chains and consumer companies, with an emphasis on Walmart and Procter & Gamble. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism & Mass Media and Sociology from Rutgers University.
“Mr. Slefo joins Ad Age from the Chicago Sun-Times, where he reported on a variety of topics including crime, lawsuits and business. Prior to that, he was a senior editor at Al Bawaba News in Amman, Jordan and an editor at Huffington Post Media Group.”
