WSJ’s Derby departs for Reuters

Michael Derby, a senior special writer at The Wall Street Journal, has left to join Reuters to cover the Federal Reserve Board and economy issues.

He had been at The Journal since April 2000.

Derby had been covering the U.S. Federal Reserve system, reporting on central bank news, speeches, research, conferences, regulatory developments and related issues. His reporting centered on real-time coverage of speeches and testimony by central bankers.

He also produced a steady stream of analysis on Fed actions and the economic environment, and was a prolific contributor to the WSJ’s Central Bank Pro service and Real Time Economics blog.

Before joining The Journal in 2000, Derby was a reporter for Bridge News and Futures World News.

He is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
