Wall Street Journal investigations editor Michael Siconolfi, who is retiring after 40 years, sent out the following to his colleagues:

Hey all

I’ve had the immense good fortune of spending 40 years in a special newsroom chock full of great journalists and mentors. It’s all been meaningful, but working in the trenches for the past decade with the WSJ’s amazing I-team has been an especially fun and rewarding ride!

Think of it: We are among the infinitesimal percentage of people in the history of the world who can say they worked at what they loved, with talented colleagues and good friends, at a career that can help change the world! Thanks to you all for the opportunity and camaraderie.

While I’m trading in one type of keyboard for another, I’ll always be rooting for you all! Let’s stay in touch.
