Wired has struck an exclusive partnership with 404 Media, a tech news site launched last year by former Motherboard journalists.

Wired and 404 Media will co-publish two exclusive articles a month that will cover topics including hacking, cybersecurity, cybercrime, AI, consumer rights, surveillance, privacy, and more.

This partnership allows for two newsrooms to reach an even larger audience, and will pave the way for future collaborations on things like investigations, events, and special projects.

“We are thrilled to partner with 404 Media, whose rapid rise as a formidable force in journalism has been astonishing to watch; the quality of their work speaks for itself, and aligns perfectly with Wired’s priorities,” said Wired global editorial director Katie Drummond in a statement. “We look forward to collaborating with the 404 Media team, and sharing their exceptional reporting with a broader audience across our platforms.”

The first story, “Inside the Massive Crime Industry That is Hacking Billion Dollar Companies,” was published Monday and is a deep dive from Joseph Cox into the world of infostealers, a type of malware that has led to breaches at some of the most important companies in the US.

Cox went into the forums where “traffers” hire other criminals to help spread the malware across the web.
