Wired executive editor Brian Barrett sent out the following to the staff:
Hi all,
I’m delighted to announce that Alana Hope Levinson will be joining us as a features editor, and Maxwell Zeff as a senior writer covering AI.
Alana has had a storied career as both a writer and editor of longform journalism; her work has appeared in New York, GQ, Vogue, Dwell, and Rolling Stone, among others, and she was instrumental in building powerhouse editorial teams at Medium and MEL. For the last five years, she’s run her own consultancy, launching print publications, podcasts, and newsletters. Anyone who’s familiar with her work—or remembers MEL with the same fondness that I do—knows that Alana brings a sharp eye for digital culture, an entrepreneurial outlook, and a bottomless well of ideas. She’ll be based in our LA office, and starts Monday, November 17.
Max will be covering the business of artificial intelligence for us. If you follow that space—and everyone here does—you’ve likely seen his byline. Few people have delivered more scoops at such a critical time for the industry. Max is joining us from TechCrunch, where he consistently broke news on the startups and leaders driving the AI boom. Before that, he covered AI policy and content moderation for Gizmodo, and wrote some of Bloomberg’s first stories about the Silicon Valley Bank crisis. Max is relentless, well-sourced, and brings a deep understanding of both the technological and financial intricacies of AI. He’ll be based in our San Francisco office, and also starts Monday.
Please join me in welcoming Max and Alana! And be sure to say hi when they start next week.
Brian
