Will Wei, director of video special projects at Business Insider, was among the layoffs last week.
He joined the publication in 2009. He led the strategy and execution of video offerings for the special projects team.
Previously, Wei helped lead the video team in his roles as head of production and executive producer.
He spent a week driving across the country in a Tesla Model X with his colleague Graham Flanagan in 2017. They documented their journey every step of the way and showed what it was like to drive a Tesla and how the Supercharger network worked across America.
In 2015, Wei traveled to South Korea with his colleague Drake Baer. They went inside a dog cloning lab and walked viewers through the cloning process. He has also spent time in Detroit, where he spoke with realtors who uncovered the truth behind the city’s $1 homes.
Wei graduated from New York University, where he double majored in journalism and economics.
