Since joining The Post as deputy tech policy editor in 2021, Alexis has demonstrated an immense talent for elevating our coverage, producing probing stories that illuminate the political and cultural impact of the tech industry and its key figures. She has spearheaded some of our most ambitious projects — including our coverage of the Facebook Papers in 2021 and our exclusive 2022 report on “Mudge,” the Twitter whistleblower — while helping reporters across the staff nurture their best ideas, from a timely profile of crypto antagonist Molly White to the political transformation of Peter Thiel. Alexis has guided our coverage of AI, producing revelatory stories about its impact in the real world alongside pieces that investigate its inner workings. Late last year, during the boardroom drama at OpenAI, she delivered a profile of Sam Altman’s rise to power in Silicon Valley along with a scoopy piece that revealed that Altman previously had been fired from a super-important job. Most recently, she worked with Lizza Dwoskin on a deep look at how Bill Ackman, a liberal Democrat, emerged as an unlikely leader of the movement to end DEI.
Before coming to The Post, Alexis was deputy editor of Jezebel, guiding the website’s daily news and investigative reporting. She was previously a senior editor at Wired, where she edited features and essays and ran the magazine’s Ideas section. She has covered tech since 2013 when, as a senior writer at the Columbia Journalism Review, she developed a beat examining how technology giants were influencing media and the spread of information. In that role, she authored many prescient pieces, including an early profile of Tony Haile, founder of the industry-changing analytics platform, Chartbeat.
Raised in Philadelphia, Alexis holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Yale University. She lives in Washington with her husband, Daniel, who is also a journalist; their son, Rafel; and their dog Louie Potato.
Alexis will collaborate with Tech Editor for Corporate and Personal Tech Yun-Hee Kim, who oversees the other half of the tech team, to deliver fresh, urgent and revelatory coverage of an industry that is critical to both The Post’s news mission and its future growth.
