The WSJ’s “As we Work” podcast hopes to create a community

Tess Vigeland

Madison Conte of The Wall Street Journal “Women In” newsletter interviewed Tess Vigeland, who is hosting a new podcast called “As we Work” for the publication.

Here is an excerpt:

WSJ: What are you hoping to accomplish with “As We Work”?

TV: This is a subject where I think people have really good advice for one another, and so to bring more voices into the conversation than just the ones we’re bringing editorially is what I’m really hoping will set the show apart. There are plenty of other podcasts about work and work-life, but we really want to generate a community.

WSJ: What advice do you have for people wanting to make a change in their career?

TV: Anything you ever do, you should be financially prepared for. But that’s not usually what keeps people from making a change. It’s dealing with the expectation that you had for yourself in life–that you were going to follow some path. You have to prepare yourself for that, that this is a change in what you thought your life was going to look like, or that you thought people expected your life to look like.
