The Logic hires Potkins as a reporter

Meghan Potkins

The Logic deputy managing editor Charlie Gillis sent out the following to the staff:

I am delighted to tell you that Meghan Potkins is joining The Logic as our Alberta reporter. She will be based in Calgary.

Meghan has distinguished herself in recent years as one of Western Canada’s premier business journalists. She comes to us from the Financial Post, where she excelled as energy reporter, besting competitors with scoops on a big oilsands merger and the revival of Keystone XL, among other stories.

Prior to her time at FP, Meghan worked for the Calgary Herald, where she literally followed the money to reveal expense abuses by a city councillor. The outcomes: a fraud conviction for the councillor, expense disclosure reforms for the City of Calgary and a World Press Freedom Canada citation for Meghan.

We look forward to Meghan applying her considerable skills and determination to our coverage of the energy industry and Alberta’s wider business scene—both spheres of growing importance to The Logic.

Her first day is May 25, 2026. Please join me in welcoming Meghan to the team.
