The Economist has named Emma Hogan to be its new Asia editor.
She is currently the Americas editor. She oversees the coverage of Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada.
Previously she was deputy briefings editor, working on cover briefings, long-form articles and editing the Christmas issue in 2020. Her other roles across the paper include South-East Asia correspondent, deputy europe editor and Britain correspondent. Hogan has appeared regularly on the BBC, Sky News, CNN and CNBC, while she has spoken on BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service and LBC Radio.
She graduated from Cambridge University with a double first in English.
