David Szymanski, a business journalist in the Tampa Bay area dating back to the 1980s, died Tuesday at the age of 63 from cancer.
Szmanski spent 13 years at the Tampa Tribune as a business reporter and an assistant business editor. He left in 1998 to join the Tampa Bay Business Journal as editor.
He later was Tampa Bay editor for the Business Observer from 2007 to 2010.
Szymanski also worked in communications at TECO Energy, Seminole Electric Cooperative and JPMorgan Chase.
He held a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree from Michigan State University.
