Longtime tech journalist Brad Stone has been named editor of Bloomberg Businessweek.

In this role, Stone will lead the publication as it relaunches across digital platforms and into a monthly print magazine.

“I’m thrilled to lead Bloomberg Businessweek into a new era,” said Stone in a statement. “At a time when attention spans have never been shorter and news cycles are measured in minutes, Businessweek is our counter-programming. It’s Bloomberg’s home for storytelling and analysis that force us to pause, and often challenge our understanding of the people, companies and technology remaking the world.”

Stone most recently led Bloomberg News’ global technology team of 80 reporters and editors covering high-tech companies, startups, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and tech trends around the world. He also serves as the co-host of the annual Bloomberg Technology Summit, bringing together some of the most prominent CEOs, investors, entrepreneurs and influencers in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Since 2010, Stone has written over two dozen Businessweek cover stories on companies such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook and the Chinese internet juggernauts Didi, Tencent and Baidu. He covered the rise, fall and rebirth of Silicon Valley as a San Francisco-based journalist for Newsweek and later for The New York Times.
