Sportico has hired Eichenberger as an editor

Sports business news site Sportico has hired Bill Eichenberger as an editor.

He was formerly the assistant managing editor for sports at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He’ll start Nov. 1.

A former sports editor at Newsday and the Wall Street Journal, Eichenberger also spent seven years as a senior editor at Bleacher Report, working with a stable of talented young writers.

Eichenberger is a graduate of the University of Georgia and has been executive director of Associated Press Sports Editors.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
