Agence France-Presse has hired Hieun Shin as its correspondent in South Korea.
She has been covering South and North Korea at The Economist since 2018. She is currently a board member at the Asian American Journalists Association Seoul Chapter.
Before joining The Economist, she was a translator and English teacher in Seoul.
Shin graduated from Ewha Womans University with degrees in international economics and law and business administration.
