
Seattle Times business editor Levin Pulkkinen has been promoted to assistant managing editor overseeing the local news desk.
He joined the Times in 2021.
Pulkkinen previously freelanced for more than three years. His reporting has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The Guardian, The Hechinger Report and GeekWire, as well as Yes! Magazine, High Country News, Next City, and The Appeal.
Before going independent, he served as senior editor at SeattlePI, where he also reported for 11 years. He also worked at the Skagit Valley Herald newspaper.
Pulkkinen holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.
