Reuters editor in chief Alessandra Galloni spoke on the one-year anniversary of the death of staff journalist Issam Abdallah.
She stated, “It has been one year since Israeli tank fire killed our colleague Issam Abdallah. On this first anniversary of his death, we call once again on Israel to investigate his killing fully and transparently, to make the findings public and to hold those responsible to account.
“Issam was a brilliant journalist who was very much loved in this newsroom. At Reuters, we report the news with accuracy, integrity, independence and freedom from bias. It is critically important that our journalists can do so safely.”
