OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, said it has acquired TBPN, an online talk show that aims to compete with Bloomberg and CNBC in by-the-minute analysis of technology news and executive interviews, for an undisclosed amount, reports Katie Deighton of The Wall Street Journal.

Deighton reports, “While TBPN’s audience remains modest, averaging around 70,000 viewers per episode across various online platforms, the show has become popular among Silicon Valley power players who consider it more supportive of their industry than traditional news outlets. Chief executives who have appeared as guests include Meta Platforms’ Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.

“The 11-person company, which launched in October 2024 and began livestreaming for three hours each weekday in March 2025, says it is profitable and that it generated around $5 million in revenue from advertising last year. TBPN was on track to make more than $30 million in revenue in 2026, according to the company.

“OpenAI bought TBPN to encourage constructive conversation around the changes AI creates by helping the show grow, according to a memo sent by Fidji Simo, the OpenAI’s CEO of applications.”
