BINJE, a new media site covering business and politics in New Jersey, was launched on Monday.

The site was created and is led by Tom Bergeron, a veteran business journalist in New Jersey who previously worked at ROI-NJ, NJBiz and The Star-Ledger/NJ Advance Media. He was one of the co-founders and editor in chief of ROI-NJ before leaving earlier this year.

BINJE intends to cover all business sectors in the state, most notably health care, commercial real estate, manufacturing, higher education and economic development.

Bergeron is being joined on the editorial side by managing editor Linda Lindner, a longtime colleague. Heather Long will head up sales.

“We’re thrilled to be launching BINJE,” Bergeron said in a statement. “We like to say, it’s not what we cover, but who we cover: The thought leaders and decision-makers in business and government in the state.”

Bergeron said BINJE will continue to cover underserved communities vigorously. “New Jersey is a true melting pot; its business community reflects that,” he said.

BINJE will have two daily emails plus a number of specialty emails. It also will have limited print editions featuring honorees and special topics.

BINJE also intends to have thought-leader panels and networking events.
