NBC News Digital senior executive editor Tom Namako sent out the following on Monday:
Team Digital,
I’m excited to announce that Jeremy Olshan has joined NBC News Digital as Managing Editor, Copy, a senior position responsible for optimizing the writing, framing, editing and vetting of some of our most prominent journalism.
Jeremy was most recently at The Wall Street Journal, where he was the personal finance bureau chief and led a redefinition of how the paper approached coverage of people and their money. Before that, he was editor-in-chief of MarketWatch — also a Dow Jones property — and grew the site’s audience in a sea of competition. He’s also been a reporter at the New York Post and The Press of Atlantic City, and his work has appeared in The New Yorker, New York Magazine and more. Over his career, Jeremy has become known as a keen wordsmith, sharp ideator and empathetic manager.
In this new role, Jeremy will work collaboratively with other editors to be a final reader, so to say, on work that appears at the top of the NBC News website and app, in some of our widely distributed newsletters and beyond. We publish excellent work every day, whether it’s major breaking news, a can’t-miss exclusive or a smart piece of beat reporting, and Jeremy will help ensure that work is elevated and gives our audience a distinct experience. Jeremy will also manage the mighty copy desk, which is dedicated to giving our work a professional polish.
When not working, Jeremy hikes, plays piano and argues with AI about poetry. He begins today, will work from 30 Rock, and reports to me.
Please join me in welcoming him to NBC News.
Tom
