I’m excited to announce Jeff Schnick is joining The Dallas Morning News as Business Editor beginning Oct. 5.
Jeff brings extensive experience leading business news teams where audience growth, accountability journalism and sustainable revenue reinforce each other. He has spent the past several years as editor-in-chief of The Texas Lawbook, the fast-growing corporate legal publication that partners with The News, where he leads coverage of transactions, litigation and public policy across the state.
Prior to that, Jeff served nearly nine years at the Dallas Business Journal, where he started as managing editor under Paul O’Donnell, before becoming editor-in-chief in 2015. At the DBJ, Jeff led one of the highest-performing newsrooms in the 40-publication chain, focusing on capital stack, CRE, economic development and rapidly scaling private companies.
Jeff’s name may be familiar because he previously worked at The News in various editing roles, including Night Business Editor under longtime Business Editor Dennis Fulton. He knows our brand, ambitions and community well. He sees a unique opportunity to work with the best business team in Texas, building on our successful coverage by pairing ambitious financial and accountability journalism with thoughtful audience strategy.
Jeff is interested in developing new products and experiences that deepen our connection with business readers, including data-driven projects and forums that bring together executives, entrepreneurs and subscribers.
I’ve seen Jeff’s leadership firsthand in our partnership with The Lawbook, from his instincts on breaking news to his strategic planning and collaboration.
