Politico reporter Kate Davidson, who co-wrote the “Morning Money” newsletter, is leaving to become U.S. economy editor for Bloomberg News.

She had been with Politico since October 2021. She will start her new role on Dec. 12.

“I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed steering this ship, thanks in no small part to the wonderful community of folks who read MM every day and who care about economic and financial policy,” she wrote in the newsletter Friday morning.

Before that, she spent nearly seven years at The Wall Street Journal, where she covered the Biden administration’s economic agenda, the Treasury Department and U.S. fiscal policy. She previously covered the Federal Reserve, breaking numerous stories about central bank independence and accountability.  She’s also written extensively about the broader economy including major trends that concern Washington around jobs, growth and inflation.

Before joining the Journal, Davidson was at Politico covering every major financial regulator, including the launch of the CFPB, and implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act.

She previously worked for the American Banker and CQ-Roll Call.  Before moving to Washington, Davidson covered politics and business at the Concord Monitor and education at the New Hampshire Union Leader.
