Editorial workers at LexisNexis regulation news websites MLex US and FTCWatch are joining The NewsGuild of New York as part of Law360 Union.

The 22 journalists at MLex and FTCWatch – news organizations that provide analysis and reporting on regulatory risk for businesses, law firms, and corporations – first organized in 2022 as part of the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.

Through a series of negotiations – and a 24-hour work stoppage by MLex Guild workers in December  – the Washington-Baltimore News Guild and NewsGuild of New York reached an agreement with LexisNexis, bringing MLex Guild into Law360 Union and under their contract.

“This agreement would not have happened without the determination and courage of MLex and FTCWatch journalists, who organized, took collective action and were willing to put it on the line,” said Dan Gabor, president of the Washington-Baltimore News Guild. “Journalists are stronger when we stand together – like MLex and Law360 workers. The Washington-Baltimore News Guild is proud to have built a stronger union in solidarity with the NewsGuild of New York and we are thrilled to recognize the hard work by members across our Local who made this possible.”

The NewsGuild of New York, the largest local of TNG-CWA in the country, welcomes MLex and FTCWatch to their ranks, which total just under 6,000 media workers.

In addition to being covered by Law360 Union’s contract – won in September 2024 after a week-long strike – MLex Guild workers will receive:

  • A $2,535 ratification bonus;
  • An immediate 2% raise to offset cuts to their previous 401(k) match;
  • Access to the 3% year-end bonus pool as of March 2027; and
  • No layoffs as a result of the integration.

Overall the workers will see a total of more than $85,900 in raises, $55,770 in bonuses and substantial health-care savings next year thanks to the agreement.
