Sammy Roth
Los Angeles Times climate columnist Sammy Roth is leaving the newspaper after seven years for a new opportunity.
He joined the paper in late 2018 to cover energy before becoming a columnist. His “Boiling Point” newsletter and deeply reported “Repowering the West” series established him as one of journalism’s most informed voices in climate reporting,
Roth previously was an energy and environment reporter at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs and the USA Today Network in Southern California.
Roth has reported on the solar, wind and geothermal industries, energy development on public lands, state and national climate policies and water scarcity in the West, among other topics.
Roth holds a bachelor’s degree in sustainable development from Columbia University.
