How the WSJ is using YouTube channels and newsletters to gain new subscribers

The Wall Street Journal was named hottest in business news in Adweek’s annual compilation.

Meseret Ambachew writes, “WSJ currently has 3.74 million subscribers, 3.1 million of which are digital. It’s also growing its off-platform presence, creating five reporter-led YouTube channels. One of these channels, featuring WSJ video reporter Shelby Holliday breaking down the business news behind current events, has amassed more than 10,000 subscribers since its August 2021 debut.

“Another channel, created in December 2021, features finance reporter Dion Rabouin covering all things finance and has amassed more than 16,000 subscribers. In July, it also launched a live coverage page every weekday the markets are open to attract a newer, younger audience. The WSJ newsroom newsletter audience grew 14% year over year.”
