Russell Sherman of “Press Profiles” interviewed CoinDesk chief content officer Michael Casey about his career.
Casey began covering cryptocurrencies, bitcoin and digital assets when he was at The Wall Street Journal.
“2013 is the moment I had this ‘a-ha’ moment,” said Casey.
Casey spent six years covering the Argentine financial crisis, which influenced his coverage of crypto. “It always comes down to institutions, and the connections between money and institutions,” said Casey. “The idea that this alternative of money run by an algorithm, so it was not beholden to this entity.”
He said it was hard to convince Journal editors of the importance of covering cryptocurrencies. He started writing about it on a Journal blog.
