The Houston Business Journal has hired Shafaq Patel to cover economic development within Beltway 8, education and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Managing editor Jonathan Adams writes, “Patel may be a familiar face to many business leaders around Houston. She previously worked for HBJ’s parent company, the American City Business Journals, as a DEI reporter. Several of her stories for corporate have appeared on the HBJ website as well as print publication.
“Prior to her role as the national DEI reporter, Patel was an intern at the Boston Business Journal and a contract reporter with ACBJ.
“Patel has dedicated her life to journalism, dating back as early as high school when she served as editor-in-chief of Dulles High School Math and Science Academy’s school newspaper. At Emerson College in Boston, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism, she served as creative director, managing editor and blog director at the university’s magazine.”
