Walter Hickey, deputy editor for data and analysis at Business Insider, has been hired by Sherwood, the media arm of retail trading platform, as executive editor.
Hickey worked with editors across the site to publish exclusive story packages on tons of subjects, from politics to weddings.
In 2022, Hickey won the Pulitzer Prize for Illustrated Reporting for his work on Business Insider’s “I Escaped A Chinese Internment Camp” documenting the plight of Uyghurs in China.
He worked as chief culture writer at 538. He made a name for himself as a data journalist at Business Insider back in 2012, and holds the record for the most-viewed Business Insider slideshow of all time.
Hickey holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from William & Mary.
