The Financial Times has launched “The AI Shift,” a weekly newsletter into how AI is reshaping work, productivity and society, written by chief data reporter John Burn-Murdoch and  employment columnist Sarah O’Connor.

The newsletter will be sent to FT premium subscribers at 12:30 p.m, UK time each Thursday. Sign up here. The first newsletter is free to read here.

Burn-Murdoch writes the weekly Data Points column. He won Specialist Journalist of the Year award at the British Journalism Awards in 2022 and earned an Honorary Doctorate from Cardiff Metropolitan University for his pioneering contributions to data journalism, including chart-driven coverage of the pandemic and economic inequality.

O’Connor is associate editor at the Financial Times and writes a weekly column focused on the ever-changing world of work. She has won several awards for her reporting on employment, social policy and demography, including a British Press Award and the 2018 Orwell Prize for Exposing Britain’s Social Evils, which she was awarded jointly with Burn-Murdoch for their widely acclaimed story about the impact of globalization on small towns.

“There are strong claims being made on both sides of the debate around AI’s impacts on jobs, and we relish the challenge of guiding readers to the signal amongst the noise,” said Burn-Murdoch in a statement.
