
Idrees Kahloon, the Washington bureau chief at The Economist, is departing for a position at The Atlantic.
At The Ecomomist, he leads coverage of the White House, Congress and national politics. Prior to that, he was the Washington correspondent and U.S. policy correspondent. He began at The Economist as a data journalist in London.
He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in applied mathematics and economics.
Lexington columnist James Bennet will take over as interim DC bureau chief. He will continue to write The Economist’s Lexington column, providing analysis and commentary on American politics, policies, and cultural dynamics.
