Sheila Dang is joining Reuters’ Houston energy team on Jan. 6 and take over coverage of U.S. oil majors Exxon and Chevron, as well as large independent producers such ConocoPhillips and Occidental Petroleum.
Dang joins as the industry works through the biggest consolidation in two decades. The U.S. is pumping record volumes of oil and gas and a new U.S. president will come to power with plans to encourage them to pump even more.
Dang first joined Reuters in New York as an intern covering print media, moved to telecom, and more recently reported on the ups and downs of new media firms, their content moderation and its social impact. She was part of the team assigned to the Paris Olympics, and has led Reuters’ coverage of the tumultuous sale of Twitter, TikTok’s existential fight to avoid a U.S. ban, and the merger of T-Mobile and Sprint.
She is a Texas native with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas-Dallas and a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
