Team,

As you all know, Dow Jones Energy aims to be a leader in the global energy conversation. To that end, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Critchlow as Head of Energy News. In this pivotal role, Andy will lead our global team of news reporters in the pursuit of world-class journalism. He will be based in the London office where he will serve as Dow Jones Energy’s senior-most leader.

Andy is an award-winning journalist and editor with over 26 years of experience covering energy and commodities.

He returns to Dow Jones from S&P Global Energy and Platts, where he was Global Head of News. At Platts, Andy spearheaded the transformation of the newsroom to focus on award-winning data journalism. Prior to S&P Global, Andy held senior editorial positions covering commodities, energy and the Middle East for Reuters Breakingviews, The Daily Telegraph newspaper and Bloomberg News, where he was chief OPEC correspondent in the Gulf.

As a reporter, he covered the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and reconstruction based in Baghdad and Basra. Previously, Andy was Middle East Managing Editor for Zawya Dow Jones in Dubai, leading the newsroom’s award-winning investigative reporting of corporate corruption and the regional debt crisis. He was also Bureau Chief for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires in Australia and New Zealand. He began his newsroom career with Middle East Economic Digest in London focusing on North Africa’s energy sector and the Gulf.

Before journalism, Andy served in the Grenadier Guards, where he completed tours of duty in East Africa and Northern Ireland during Operation Banner. Andy is a graduate of Durham University where he read a Masters in Middle East Politics, and Bradford University where he read Peace Studies.

A keen amateur racing cyclist since the age of 16, Andy has represented Great Britain, won multiple national titles in different cycling disciplines and is a double UCI World Masters Champion.

Please join me in welcoming Andy to the team.
