Sonya Hill
Sonya Hill, the researcher and data editor at Crain’s Detroit Business, was among the layoffs at the company last week.
Hill had been at the publication for more than 11 years.
She had led data research, analysis, and editorial workflows for major business features, including The Book of Lists and Who’s Who in Detroit Business. Hill managed large-scale surveys, verified financial and company data, and collaborated with cross-functional teams on data visualization, content development, and product innovation.
Previously, Hill worked at Cengage Learning for 17 years, overseeing multiple editorial and digital publishing projects from concept through completion—overseeing budgets, vendor coordination, and workflow optimization to deliver accurate, on-time publications.
She is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
