CNBC senior vice president of business news Dan Colarusso sent out the following on Thursday:
As you know by now, CNBC is making some organizational changes and as a result I’ll be leaving the company.
CNBC is a powerhouse news operation – a machine that keeps markets and investors honest in ways great and small each day. What I found in the last six years was indeed a machine, but one with a great heart and driven by the sense that every person here is a vital part of something valuable.
I’m proud of what Business News achieved during my tenure: Our great anchors, show teams and tech pros pushed through the pandemic and amassed the network’s largest audiences in a decade; in Washington, D.C. we reloaded the bureau for what has been industry-leading coverage of Trump 2; we attracted a world-class San Francisco bureau chief to shore up our tech hub; and perhaps most important, we built bridges between television and digital that not only brought talented reporters to the screen but resulted in some great long-form co-productions and this year, an Emmy nomination.
Those are all worthwhile accomplishments but as you look back on the time I was lucky enough to spend in the trenches with you, I hope you felt seen as a person – whether it’s because we swapped snacks or shared a bizarre love of marching bands, that I asked about your weekend and your family or in times when I challenged you to be the best version of yourself.
Thank you to my senior team for their diligence and wise counsel, to Jeannine Lavin for making life very easy for me, to Tech Ops for being spectacular every day and to all of Editorial for your dedication and hard work. I’ll be watching from a few rivers away and rooting for you every day.
Best,
Dan
