STAT News has tapped Laura Chang in the newly created role of editorial director based in New York.
Chang will have a wide portfolio at STAT, including science, health policy, national politics and data journalism. She will also be editing and helping expand the franchise as a leading media company reporting on health medicine and the life sciences.
She begins in March.
Chang comes to STAT following a three-decade career at The New York Times, where she recently served as deputy editor of The Upshot. She was previously head of the science desk for 7 years. Chang started as a copy editor on the national desk and has covered many big and important stories.
She has also worked at the Seattle Times. Chang studied journalism and psychology at the University of Washington.
