Lina Batarags has been named Business Insider international executive editor and Meghan Morris as Singapore bureau chief.

Batarags and Morris, along with UK deputy editor Jack Sommers, will shape how Business Insider’s international teams cover global business, tech, and workplace stories for audiences across time zones.

“I’ve been endlessly impressed by Lina, Meghan, and the whole team in Singapore,” said editor in chief Jamie Heller in a statement. “They produce some of the sharpest, most insightful, and most fun stories we publish. I’m thrilled these leaders will be bringing their journalistic sensibilities to a broader team.”

Batarags joined Business Insider in 2018 as a senior editor on the strategy and executive life team and most recently served as Singapore bureau chief. She moved to Singapore in 2021 to launch the Singapore bureau, hiring and training the bureau’s staff, closing the gaps in Business Insider’s 24-hour news cycle coverage, and establishing the tone and direction of the bureau’s enterprise reporting about the region.

Under Batarags’ leadership, the bureau has grown into an award-winning team of journalists who cover global breaking news and deliver deep, differentiated reporting about workplaces and careers, business and economy, and life, money and retirement in Asia.

Morris joined Business Insider’s finance desk in New York in 2018 as a senior reporter, transitioning to tech features in 2020. She earned a 2022-23 Knight-Bagehot Fellowship at Columbia University. Morris relocated to Singapore in 2024 as Singapore’s deputy bureau chief, where she immediately sharpened Business Insider’s coverage of tech and finance. She works with the bureau’s head of people and operations Terence Ruis.

As international executive editor, Batarags will oversee all coverage out of the London and Singapore newsrooms and report to chief news editor Steve Russolillo. Morris will continue to report to Batarags.
