Business Insider hires Stewart to write about business, ecoomy

Business Insider has hired Emily Stewart to write about business and the economy.

She previously was a senior correspondent at Vox.

At Vox, Stewart focused her coverage of how markets affect people in their everyday lives. Stewart launched and was the author of a monthly newsletter, “The Big Squeeze,” examining the ways ordinary people are being squeezed under capitalism and the scams — legal and illegal — that are constantly trying to sucker us

She joined Vox in 2017 as a reporter with a focus on politics, breaking news and business. She then served as a business and politics reporter. Recently, she served as a senior reporter covering business and the economy.

She was also a political reporter at TheStreet.com and a digital content producer at NY1 News.

Stewart graduated from Columbia University.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
