Bloomberg taps Al-Rashdan as its Airbus reporter

Leen Al-Rashdan

Benedikt Kammel, managing editor for global space, aviation and defense coverage at Bloomberg News, sent out the following:

Hi all

I’m thrilled to announce that Leen Al-Rashdan will be our new Airbus reporter, relocating from Dubai to London early next year to take up coverage of one of our most important companies. Leen will also oversee Rolls-Royce and BAE, and help shape our coverage of the broader European aviation industry.

Since joining the team about two years ago, Leen has shown an impressive growth trajectory, both in her understanding of the aviation industry and her ability create a source network to break news. Her recent scoops at the Dubai Air Show are testament to her killer instinct, and she’s quickly made a name for herself as a fear- and tireless reporter. Leen has also shown a great nose for trend stories, writing routinely about the finer points of luxury travel, be it first-class pajamas or onboard perks like showers and caviar.

Leen will take her vibrant energy and her curiosity in companies and people to London, becoming the latest in an illustrious lineup of past Airbus reporters at Bloomberg — most recently Sid Philip, who is now our chief global aviation correspondent in New York and will continue to support Leen in her new assignment.

The rapid-fire news in the past few days has only reinforced just how important the Airbus story is, and I’m excited to see Leen jump right into the challenge, supported by our crack global space, aviation and defense team.

Please join me in congratulating Leen on her new assignment.

Best, Bene
