Bloomberg News has hired Allegra Stratton as UK contributing editor.
She started Monday.
As part of her role, Stratton will write Bloomberg UK’s daily newsletter The Readout, providing analysis of the day’s biggest stories targeted to a British audience. It launches on June 20 and will publish every weekday by 5 p.m. London time.
Stratton spent nearly two decades as a journalist, having served as political editor for BBC’s Newsnight and National Editor at ITV News, among other roles. In May 2020, she entered UK government, where she held the positions of head of strategic communications at the Treasury, press secretary to the Prime Minister, and government spokesperson for the UN Climate Change Summit COP26.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Allegra to Bloomberg at such a pivotal moment for us in Britain,” said Bloomberg senior executive editor for Europe, Middle East and Africa David Merritt in a statement. “Newsletters are an important way to connect with an audience and with Allegra’s insights in our new daily Readout, Bloomberg UK readers are in for a treat.”
Bloomberg News senior editor Adam Blenford is the launch editor of The Readout.
